DRIVING & ESCORTING

If you are a driver with a clean licence, then your skills will be very much in demand. Timewise, you can volunteer for anything from 3 hours a day to 3 hours a month. Most organisations offer a mileage allowance, so you shouldn't be out of pocket. Use your own car to:-

  • Take elderly or disabled people to appointments or social visits
  • Deliver meals on wheels
  • Deliver books to housebound people
  • Collect goods for charity shops
  • Maintain charity collection boxes in your area

If driving a mini bus appeals then several local groups would be interested to hear from you. A standard driving licence is all you need, but you will have to undergo training and a test.

If you don't drive, or have a non driving friend / partner who would like to volunteer alongside you, then escorts are also in demand.

Don't forget:
Volunteering can increase your skills and help you in your own life.
Could it make a difference to your CV?
