PRACTICAL TASKS, DIY
& GARDENING
If you enjoy practical
tasks then this is for you.
HANDYPERSON SCHEMES
You can volunteer with a local organisation which offers simple practical
help to elderly or disabled people. No "Changing Rooms" scale
projects but simple tasks which will enhance the quality of life for less
abled people. Imagine what it's like to be elderly, living alone and unable
to replace a light bulb, or needing draft excluders fitted to doors &
windows. Other tasks might include fitting smoke alarms or spy holes in
front doors.
DESIGNING &
MAKING EQUIPMENT FOR DISABLED PEOPLE
If you have talent as an inventor/engineer then there is a group who would
welcome your input. The group specialises in making equipment for disabled
people which is not available elsewhere.
GARDENING
Don't worry if you are not in the same league as Alan Titchmarsh. "Ground
Force" is not what this is all about. Volunteers who are prepared
to give gardens a general tidy are always welcomed - either regularly
or on a time to time basis.
Don't
forget:
Volunteering can increase your skills and help you in your own life.
