In line with national guidelines for all Local Volunteer Development Agencies, Volunteer Centre Dacorum performs the following functions within the Borough of Dacorum:-

• Brokerage - we match both individuals and groups interested in volunteering with appropriate opportunities in the local community
• Marketing - we encourage local interest in volunteering using a variety of initiatives
• Promotion of good practice - we promote good practice in volunteer management to organisations through advice, guidance and training
• Develop local volunteering opportunities - we work with organisations to develop new opportunities for people of all abilities and ensure that those who face barriers to volunteering are able to contribute
• Policy response & training - we identify and respond to proposals or legislation that may impact on volunteering
• Strategic development of volunteering - we network at a local, regional and national level in the strategic development of volunteering

The Centre has been accredited for meeting these objectives. It achieved Volunteering England Quality Accreditation in 2005 and renewed this in November 2008.
