TIME TO TIME VOLUNTEERING
Spare time is in short supply these days.
Many people would like to help in the community but cannot make a regular commitment. At the same time, many voluntary organisations need help on an occasional basis for particular tasks or projects. DVB keeps a register of people who are prepared to volunteer from Time to Time - maybe once, twice or three times a year. On the register we have:-
  • individuals
  • couples
  • families
  • groups of friends
  • teams of work colleagues
  • groups with similar interests or abilities
No special skills are necessary to become a Time to Time volunteer, although it is an advantage if DVB has records of volunteers interests, hobbies and the time they have available.
Examples of Time to Time Volunteers in action with local voluntary organisations include:-
  • play music to entertain elderly people
  • design a web site for a local charity
  • "shake a tin" fundraising
  • take photos for displays
  • design posters or leaflets on a home computer
  • understudy Father Christmas for local toddlers
  • bake cakes and other goodies for fundraising
  • read poetry to entertain small groups
  • drive elderly or disabled people to special events
  • help with a mail-out by "stuffing" envelopes
  • paint murals for children with learning disabilities
  • serve refreshments at special events
  • redecorate the women's refuge
  • plant daffodil bulbs for disadvantaged people
  • push wheelchairs on Christmas Shopping Night for elderly & disabled people
