| C. Encourage good practice in volunteer management | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| In order to promote good practice to other organisations, Volunteer Centre staff are appropriately trained. During the year training has included topics such as employee volunteering, leadership in the Voluntary Sector and V-Base (the database used by Centres throughout the country). | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Training by Centre staff for other organisations has included sessions on volunteer management for Dacorum based Community Centres and for organisations in Three Rivers. Providing training outside the district provided earned income during the year. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Individual advice and guidance was offered to anyone in the Borough responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers. Many were volunteers themselves. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lees Award for excellence in volunteer management. DSGi plc again supported the Lees Award for excellence in volunteer management, which this year was presented to the Riding and Driving for Disabled Group at Gaddesden Place. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Volunteering England’s “Building on Success” Strategy and ChangeUp from the Home Office were key documents which continued to influence this work in 2006/7 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Hertfordshire Infrastructure Consortium - ChangeUp | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| A consortium of 23 Hertfordshire based infrastructure bodies (CVS’s, BME groups, Rural Community Councils, Volunteer Centres etc) continued to develop projects based on the ChangeUp Infrastructure Investment Plan for the county. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| This network continued to develop partnership initiatives in thisreport year. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| The ChangeUp work was significant for Volunteer Centre Dacorum, in terms of funding for extra activities, commitment of staff time and in assessing the potential of collaborative working in the future. A separate report covers the Volunteering Herts ChangeUp work. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Eight local organisations that receive core funding from Dacorum Borough Council’s Community Partnerships Directorate continued their research into how they might benefit by working more closely with each other. Work started on this ambitious project in 2004 and continued in the current report year with input from the Trustees and Manager. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Dacorum Community Plan | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| One of the themes of the Community Plan is Community Involvement. A Community Involvement Forum, chaired by the Centre Manager, has been established. Members include both voluntary and statutory representatives from a wide range of agencies with activities relevant to community involvement. A steering group meets quarterly and there are 2 Open meetings each year with speakers covering a variety of themes. The Forum's Action Plan is being revised in 2007/8. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
