What are you doing on Saturday 5th May?
Why not come and join us for a cup of tea? We are holding an event at The Roundhouse from 10am to 2pm to promote elderly services in the area, and will be joined by a number of organisations who offer support to the elderly in the area.
You will have the opportunity to find out more about organisations such as:
The Repair Shed, a project managed by Community Action Dacorum, run by volunteers, for volunteers and connecting older men (aged 50+) who enjoy working with their hands, with like-minded individuals, making and repairing things, and learning new skills.
Age UK Dacorum, a charity working within the local area to improve the quality of life for older people, helping make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
Abbeyfield, an organisation which manages three sheltered houses in the area, aiming to alleviate loneliness and enhance the quality of life for older people.
Shopmobility, managed by Community Action Dacorum and providing the free use of wheelchairs and scooters throughout Hemel Town Centre for people with temporary or permanent mobility problems.
Crossroads Care, an organisation which provides support for unpaid family carers and the people they care for.
The Centre in the Park, in Gadebridge Park, a place where older people can enjoy a bit of company, have lunch, play games and have a chat. They can also enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake in the recently opened Café in the Park, set in the newly refurbished conservatory overlooking the beautiful Walled Garden. It is currently only open on Friday mornings and can only function with the help of volunteers. The Café in the Park is in need of more volunteers to help run it, with the ultimate aim of opening on other days too. Additionally, the café is available for use by voluntary organisations when it is not open, free of charge.
If you are interested in finding out more about any of these organisations, or would be interested in volunteering with them, come and visit us on Saturday - we would love to see you !
Alternatively, we are open throughout the week, from 10am to 4pm.
