Volunteer with Crohn’s and Colitis UK
At least 300,000 people in the UK have Inflammatory Bowel Disease, with the two main forms being Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Of these chronic conditions, Crohn’s causes inflammation of the digestive system, whereas Colitis causes inflammation and ulceration of the colon. In a recent TV interview magician Dynamo highlighted the debilitating effects of Crohn’s when he revealed that he has the disease.
With the help of volunteers, Crohn’s and Colitis UK, the leading charity in the battle against these diseases, is transforming the lives of people right across the UK. Their vision is to see improved lives today and a world free from Crohn’s and Colitis tomorrow.
To achieve this, more volunteers are needed to join one of the local teams of volunteers raising awareness of Crohn’s and Colitis. These teams make a difference by planning and delivering events; building communities; fundraising; social media activity; creating local newsletters; giving local grants, working with hospitals and so much more.
By getting involved and supporting the charity you can help more people understand Crohn’s and Colitis, break taboos and help people access the information and services they need to feel empowered to manage their condition. You could become one of the 96% of volunteers who say they are “proud to tell people that they volunteer for Crohn’s and Colitis UK” and one of the 91% of Crohn’s and Colitis UK volunteers who say, “my volunteering gives me a sense of personal achievement”.
They are looking for people who can join a team and give approximately 3 hours per week (12 hours per month), usually on weekday evenings and weekends. The role is flexible so, even if you can’t quite manage the three hours, as there are no set days or times, you can organise your involvement around your other commitments. As part of the team you will be encouraged to arrange and promote about ten events each year.
People with a variety of skills and experiences are welcome to join their friendly team of volunteers. For more information, visit us at The Roundhouse for a chat with one of our friendly team. Please call 01442 247209 to make an appointment.
We are open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm, and Saturday 10am to 2pm.
