What goes on in the Roundhouse?

(By the Roundhouse, we mean that ‘funny round building’ next to the play area in the middle of Marlowes!)

The RoundhouseHave you ever wondered what goes on in the Roundhouse? Although it has been a Volunteer Centre for many years, many people are totally unaware of what goes on there!

Who is based there?  The Volunteer Centre, which is part of Support4Dacorum, a joint project with Community Action Dacorum and Dacorum Borough Council.

What does a Volunteer Centre do?   A Volunteer Centre provides support and expertise to local charities helping them find much needed volunteers. It also helps people find their perfect volunteering role, and supports existing volunteers. It is the perfect place to start looking for volunteering opportunities in your local area.

Who visits the Roundhouse?   People who want to volunteer - however, there is no typical volunteer – anyone who has a few hours a week to spare visit the Volunteer Centre to find out about volunteering. Did you know that most of the people working in the Roundhouse are volunteers themselves? They are always happy to answer any questions you may have about volunteering.

Our volunteer advisers will help match you with a suitable volunteering role. We also hold ‘Introduction to Volunteer’ sessions to help those who feel they need a little more information before committing to volunteering.

What will I find inside the Roundhouse?  As well as a friendly welcome, you will also find a display area featuring a wide selection of leaflets and posters with information about local charities. You can also pick up our current opportunities bulletin, which features a wide range of volunteering opportunities.

There are also 2 rooms available for hire at reasonable rates – an Interview Room which can hold up to 3 people, and a Meeting Room which can hold up to 10 people, with free Wi-Fi included.

For more information on any of the above either give us a ring on 01442 247209, pop in and ask one of our friendly volunteers or visit our web site www.volunteerdacorum.org.

We are currently one of the good causes in the Hemel Hempstead Tesco shops so please lend us your support by posting your blue discs into our box.
