Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North
Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North, a network partner of Carers Trust, Britain’s leading carer support charity, have been supporting thousands of people in Hertfordshire for over 30 years. Their aim is to enable unpaid carers to have a life of their own alongside their caring responsibilities by supporting them, and the people they care for. By providing a reliable tailored service of care to those living with a mental or physical health condition and being cared for by family members and friends, Crossroads Care Hertfordshire North enables them to not only have a break from their caring role, but also attend doctors or dentist appointments or just have their hair done! This service can take place either in or out of the home.
They also offer a ‘Be a Friend, Make a Friend’ service which helps those who are isolated at home either through caring or their health condition. They have a fabulous team who give their time to share skills, hobbies and friendship on a regular basis giving support to keep people connected with their community.
Many people are isolated in Dacorum, either due to living with long term health conditions, or because they are unpaid carers to a loved one. Volunteers are desperately needed so Crossroads care can ensure as many people can be helped as possible. Do you have some time on your hands, and feel you can help someone in your area reconnect with their community by being a friend? Or can you help by sharing your hobbies and skills with someone, and maybe have the opportunity to learn some new skills in return?
Another way you could help is by being a friend to someone who is unable to leave their house, by visiting them in their own home and maybe bake a cake or share some gardening with them.
If you are interested in volunteering with Crossroads or would like more information you could meet them at their open session on 6th July 2018 at the South Hill Centre, Cemetery Hill, Hemel Hempstead between 10am – 1 pm.
