Tesco 'Bags of Help' programme helped us get a £1,000 grant!
Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised from the sale of carrier bags is being used to fund thousands of projects across the UK. The programme awards grants to charities and community organisations to fund local projects.
Three community projects in each local area are voted by customers in Tesco stores throughout the UK and these projects change every other month. As we are a charity, CAD Volunteer Centre at the Roundhouse applied to be part of this scheme in the Hertfordshire area and we are pleased to announce that we came third and have been awarded a grant of £1,000!
We would like to thank all of Tesco’s customers who put their blue token in our voting unit – we will be using the money to buy new IT equipment and some new furniture for our meeting room which we are very excited about!
Opportunity of the Week
One of our charities is looking for a volunteer to work in their tea bar at the Magistrates Court in St Albans, Herts.
The tea bar offers drinks and light refreshments to its visitors (solicitors, barristers, police, witnesses, people who are up before the court and their families, etc.) It is run entirely by volunteers and is open Monday to Thursday 9.30am – 4.00pm and Friday 9.30am to 1.00pm. Volunteers work one morning or afternoon shift per week. They are currently looking for someone who can volunteer on a Thursday morning.
If you are outgoing and confident in dealing with people and are interested in this position then please give us a call on 01442 247093 for an informal chat. Alternatively, you can pop in to see us at the Roundhouse - our opening hours are 10.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday and 10.00am to 2.00pm on a Saturday, or contact us on the number above.
We look forward to hearing from you!
