New Years Update
As we move into the new year we wanted to update you on a few developments at the Volunteer Centre.
We are now open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm so please call in to see us if you are in Hemel Hempstead town centre. We recognise that not everybody can visit during the week because of work, education or family commitments so we wanted to provide extra opportunities for people to speak with us. These extended opening hours are possible due to the new Support4Dacorum contract that we have secured with our partners Community Action Dacorum from Dacorum Borough Council. In addition, we are hosting a drop in day on Thursday 19th January from 11am to 2pm so please call in and ask us anything about volunteering and join us for a free cup of tea or coffee.
We are also very happy to offer a new opportunity for local residents who would be interested in speaking with a life coach. This is possible through our Volunteer Life Coach Viviana Coscotin who has donated her time to provide this service. Through her own experiences Viviana knows the benefits of defining your interests, goals, skills and ambitions and is happy to share this with other local residents. We are very grateful to Viviana for helping us provide this opportunity.
The Volunteer Centre is still a place where local residents can acquire replacement NHS hearing aid batteries. Currently 500 people a month access this service and we would like to encourage all other local residents who require hearing aids and need replacement batteries to call in at any time during our opening hours.
Also, we urgently need your spare wool to help our knit and natter group keep going. We have a happy band of volunteers who knit and crochet at home and a group that meet at the Roundhouse in the Marlowes the first Wednesday every month from 2-3.30pm. Our knitters turn double knit and 3 or 4 ply wool into beautiful handmade garments. If you have any wool to donate or would like to become a volunteer knitter, we would love to hear from you.
