New Volunteering Opportunities
There are a number of new volunteering opportunities available through the Volunteer Centre.
Breakaway for Carers
Breakaway sitters are ordinary men and women with plenty of common sense, reliability and understanding who enjoy being with dependent people. They need more people, who can offer a few hours a week to sit with these people (daytime, evenings or weekends) while their regular carer takes a break.
Basic training is given and expenses are paid through Hertfordshire County Council.
Hemel Hempstead Child Contact Centre
Hemel Hempstead Child Contact Centre provide a safe and friendly place on two Saturdays per month for children to see their non-resident parent and family in a relaxed comfortable and neutral venue. The centre, which offers supported contact is run by trained volunteers, who are impartial and work to a strict code of practice which includes confidentiality and non discrimination.
They are seeking an experienced and professional person to be Chair of the Management Committee. Good leadership and organisational skills are important, and previous experience of similar position is desirable.
The Centre are also seeking an organised and enthusiastic person to be Volunteers Coordinator, responsible for organising rota, overseeing volunteers, induction and the recruitment of new volunteers for Saturday contact sessions
In addition, the Centre are seeking an organised and enthusiastic person to be Secretary to the Management Committee. Excellent administrative, organisational and computer skills are key. The committee meets on 5 to 6 evenings per year
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust are a charity providing a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the critically ill and injured of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
They are looking for fantastic volunteers to attend various community events. These key volunteer activities can involve attending local events to sell branded charity merchandise, participating in a bucket collection, receiving donations on behalf of the charity, promoting the charity and inspiring people to support EHAAT
You will receive full training, and will be supported by the Volunteer Team and you will also receive an ID badge and uniform.
