Why not make volunteering one of your New Year’s resolutions – one which you can keep!Writing a New Years resolution list

Another year is here again and it’s a time when many of us think about the year ahead and what New Year resolutions we are going to try and stick to like not eating chocolate, giving up smoking, walking the dog for longer, use the stairs not the lift – all very worthwhile but hopefully some of you lovely readers will think about volunteering with us!

Volunteering is not a resolution that springs to mind in the first instance, but it is a very worthwhile cause and the benefits are many in terms of job satisfaction, making new friends, helping others and it is also a good way of helping local communities.

Many use volunteering to gain experience for a job, others with free time on their hands find it a rewarding experience to help others and use their grey matter!

It is not all about making tea and working in charity shops – we have numerous positions that require drivers, gardeners, admin assistants, fund raising assistants, befriender’s and many more. To see the full range currently available, visit our web site www.volunteerdacorum.org and click on Get Involved.

One of our charities is currently looking for volunteer drivers for their Community Transport programme.  They need to increase their pool of drivers, so if you or any of your friends have some spare time then please do contact us on the number below for all the details.

If you would like to know more about volunteering please contact us at the Roundhouse Marlowes on 01442 247209. We are open Monday to Friday 10.00am – 4.00pm and Saturday 11.00am – 3.00pm. Please do come and talk to us – we are a friendly bunch and more than happy to share our volunteering experiences with you!

Lastly, before signing off we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and a big thank you to all the volunteers and staff who do such a wonderful job throughout the year– that could be you too this year!
