Are you over 50 and looking for a new challenge in 2019?
Do you have some spare time on your hands? Do you want to make some new friends? Would you like to give back to your local community but are not sure how to go about this?
If the answer is YES then we can help!
We have a FREE programme co-funded by the Erasmus+Programme of the European Union to people aged 50+ who would like to engage with their local community and improve their general health and wellbeing through volunteering which in turn could lead to volunteering opportunities locally and abroad!
The UK, in common with most of Europe, has an increasingly ageing population. We are living longer and it is important that this increased longevity is matched with a good quality of life and active ageing. Lifelong learning is an important contributor in ensuring people stay active as they age, giving them a sense of purpose and a reason to get out of the house.
The target group is people aged over 50, with no maximum age limit as you are never too old to learn! You may be employed part-time, retired or unemployed, but never the less share in common a feeling of being isolated. You will receive training and get all the support you need to start volunteering at a local level.
The three day programme will held at the Volunteer Centre, The Roundhouse, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead in March 2019. It will run on 3 consecutive Thursday mornings starting on the 7th March 2019. The sessions will last about 2.5 hours and you must be able to attend all three of the meetings to be eligible.
The programme will cover various topics including how to remain independent, how to contribute to society, how to keep your mind active with new and different interests and how this can lead to a strong sense of self-worth and value.
If you are interested in participating in the above programme, then please give us a call on 01442 247209, or visit us at The Roundhouse Marlowes or 48 High Street Hemel Hempstead to find out more.
