Volunteering Opportunities with Animals

If you are an animal lover, you may be interested in helping two local charities by volunteering with them.

Gaddesden Place riding for the Disabled Centre in Bridens Camp Hemel Hempstead, and Cats Protection are looking for volunteers to help them with their day to day activities.

Gaddesden Place Riding for the Disabled are looking for help at their sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9am to 1.30pm, and Tuesday, and Thursday afternoons from 2pm to 3pm.

Volunteers will provide general assistance to instructors, and help both children and adults with leading and/or side walking ponies during riding sessions. Previous horse experience is useful but not always necessary, however, good communication skills, and an understanding of disabilities will be useful.

This role is suitable for anyone from the age of 15 upwards.

Cats Protection are looking for cat lovers to help them with various aspects of their work in Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area. This includes help with fundraising, help with the cats, and driving.

Drivers are required to help with transporting and loading/unloading goods to and from jumble sales and events.

They also need drivers to be ‘Cat Taxis’ taking foster cats to and from local vets.

If you have a UK driving licence, good knowledge of the local area and are a cat lover, this could be the role for you.

Cats Protection are also looking for Cat Fosterers. If you have a spare room at your home, and are able to foster a cat for a period of time until they are rehomed, then please get in touch. You will need to be someone with patience, and common sense, with the ability not to get too attached to the cat, but will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped a cat find a new loving home.

All equipment and cat food is provided, aswell as training as regular supervision.

If any of these roles are of interest to you please contact us on 01442 247209 or register an interest on Volunteer Connect, or by visiting us at The Roundhouse.
