Support4Dacorum Covid-19 response in Dacorum

Many voluntary organisations have had to close during the Corona lockdown as they have no safe way to operate. Many others are still open, working remotely to support the community using adapted systems for the safety of their staff, volunteers and users.  Volunteer with May I Help you on back of shirt

If you are a charity or community group that is operating but need more volunteers to support your users with reassuring phone calls, or getting them shopping or prescriptions, Support4Dacorum can provide you with as many volunteers as you need.

We now have a bank of over 200 volunteers checked out and ready to help plus another 300 in the pipeline. We have already checked out these volunteers by taking up 2 references, checking their ID and interviewing them face to face on Skype or similar online platforms.

Loretta Anderson Community Development Manager at Community Action Dacorum said “Please let us know if you need volunteers, there are so many local people out there who are desperate to help!”

During the Covid Crisis many new local groups have set up as Covid Mutual aid groups and are working tirelessly in their communities to support their neighbours. Support4dacorum has been attempting to contact the organisers of these groups to see if we can offer them support in the form of training for volunteers, checking out their potential volunteers , or providing them with checked volunteers from our database of local residents all eager to help in the crisis.

Support4Dacorum has now started a support group for these organisers and have had an initial Zoom meeting to share practice and information to help support their work. We have now set up a private facebook group for organisers to network and support each other.
