RADIO DACORUM

Radio Dacorum, a project run by Community Action Dacorum, is a community based radio station which broadcasts 24/7 through the internet.  It was started in 2012 to fill the need for an on-line communication tool in the Dacorum area.  Based in Grove Hill, Radio Dacorum combines music with an opportunity for residents, voluntary organisations, public authorities and private companies to promote their local activities, as well as encouraging a sense of pride in the Dacorum area.Radio Dacorum presenter sitting under a canopy outside the Roundhouse

Every presenter on Radio Dacorum is a volunteer, and they are all free to choose the type of music they play, as well as the theme for their show.  For example every Monday from 2pm, Nadine hosts a show about Volunteering in Dacorum, and every Wednesday at 7pm, Penny presents the ‘What’s on in Dacorum’ show. Also, at 5pm on a Friday there is the Sound and Vision Film Show which brings you news and reviews of the latest releases at the cinema.

To listen to Radio Dacorum, simply visit their web site www.radiodacorum.org.uk, and click ‘play’ at the top of the page.  You can also find photos of the volunteer presenters, find details of the show schedules, and send in requests through their web site.

Radio Dacorum is always looking for regular volunteers, especially people who are available during the day.  Full training is provided, so no previous experience is necessary.  However, you will be expected to use social media, have your own Facebook account, and be able to use it!

So – if you want to be part of a great team, want to learn a new skill or have always fancied yourself as a radio presenter but never got the opportunity to give it a go – why not apply.

If you are tempted by radio presenting, but don’t want to volunteer on your own, you could always volunteer with a friend and co-host a show, like Alice and Dan who co-host the ‘Bolt and Bark Sunday Show’ on Sundays.
