Waterside Centre Kings Langley

The Waterside Centre, formed in 1990 is a busy place with lots of activities going on not only for its service users but also its staff and volunteers.

Open from 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday, it is a place where adults with learning disabilities can take part in a variety of activities such as woodwork, art and craft, swimming, and cooking.  Service Users make a wide range of items from recycled materials, which are sold at very reasonable prices.Waterside Centre Kings Langley

Those interested in spending some of their days at Waterside can visit with a supporter to see what they do, and then if they like it, they can come along for a ‘taster day’ where they can try out some of the activities, meet the staff and other service users and have lunch free of charge.

Because the Waterside Centre is such a busy place, they always want volunteers for a variety of roles.

They are currently looking for a Volunteer Activity Leader who will help their service users with activities including arts and crafts, sewing, woodwork, outings and much much more.

Alternatively, do you have green fingers?  If so, Waterside are looking for someone to help them plan, prepare and maintain their allotment.  Other tasks will include helping to oversee work on the allotment carried out by adults with learning disabilities.

If you enjoy the water, Waterside are looking for a female volunteer to support an adult female with learning disabilities at the swimming pool in Watford or Hemel.  You will provide 1-1 support in the water during a group swimming activity, and also provide some assistance with dressing.

As well as having fun working alongside a friendly team at Waterside, you will also receive travel expenses, beverages and a lunch.

We recently spoke to a volunteer we placed at the Waterside Centre and she told us how much she loves volunteering there. ‘The people there are wonderful and extremely friendly.  They are always supportive, they never criticise, and for me it is a magical experience.’
